Am I any good?

For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated with experiential learning. Whether it was how to write a press release or how to say no to a request without rejecting the requestor, I wanted not only to acquire knowledge and experience, but to grow wiser. I've watched myself make thousands of mistakes and discover thousands of connections. That means I can save my clients a lot of time and trouble.

I can claim to be a good coach because of what I've written above, but also (and more to the point) because I have great clients. Seriously. My clients are highly intelligent, usually quite creative, complex, engaged, and ambitious in the best sense of that word. I have a knack for noticing the subtle lapses of rigorous honesty, good reality testing, and spacious focus that can derail the best laid plans and make hash of the best intentions. I can spot blindspots at a hundred yards. Perhaps more importantly, I have an unerring instinct for my clients' genius, and I am a passionate advocate for that genius.

I believe I was born to be a coach, and every year I invest significant resources in developing my abilities. The list of all the studies that inform my work -- from Improv to Process Work to classical vocal training -- would be ridiculously long, but here's a sampling.

A lifelong student with a passion for tapping the wisdom of diverse traditions, I continue to study in both traditional and non-traditional venues to bring my clients the best resources and techniques for personal and professional growth.

Service
Service is a big part of my life. Though currently observing a vow of abstinence from board and committee membership, I continue to contribute to community organizations by facilitating non profit board retreats on a pro bono basis. Previous board and committee positions include:

President, Puget Sound Coaches Association Board of Directors
President, Bainbridge Island Arts and Humanities Council
Secrtary, Bainbridge Arts and Crafts
Chairperson, Peninsula Regional Support Network
Northwest Regional Chapter Host for the International Coach Federation

In addition to my coach training and a lifelong study of what makes people successful and happy, I bring to coaching nearly 30 years' experience in marketing, communications, and administration in the commercial and non-profit sectors. I have owned my own business since 1987, first creating and marketing my own line of wearable art and then establishing a thriving international coaching practice.
